1. Why did you start HelpIRS.com?

I started HelpIRS.com after several years ago and thinking about the IRS and potentially helping the agency and taxpayers. I started to construct an information portal in order to help taxpayers. In addition, the Tax Gap is a huge problem - for the IRS, and for the United States. I hope information helps to lowers the Tax Gap through simplicity and information.

  2. Do you work for the IRS?

No, definitely not. In fact, I was late for paying taxes and the result was having to penalties and interest. But rather than being upset, I realized it was my mistake and my problem. And, when I finally decided to pay everything, the agency was helpful.

The IRS is the agency to handle everything. It’s complicated and always changing, based on Congress. Our service is simply trying to hopefully making it easier.

  3. What happens when you’re late paying taxes?

You should consult with the IRS. But basically, what you owe the IRS occurs approximately 18% penalties and 7% interest. That equals 25%.

The worst thing is to run away and ignore it. The best is to work with the IRS, including private specific tax firms that I mention.

  4. Can you explain the Tax Gap?

Approximately 20% of the Federal taxes are not paid. There are a number of reasons and the excellent link to above are more accurate. It’s most individuals not paying vs. companies. Every dollar not paying taxes actually costs higher taxes, because the government needs a specific total money to operate, regardless of tax receipts. Thus, the payments not sending means more taxes.

My personal belief is that the cure of the Tax Gap is the “carrot” vs. “the stick.” In this way, information can lower the Tax Gap, through information, simplicity, and speed. Hopefully, HelpIRS.com helps.
